Vision

A world without discrimination where people are equally valued regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, ability, or sexual identity.

Mission

Identify and support organizations serving communities that are discriminated against and marginalized due to their race, gender, ethnicity, ability, or sexual identity.

FJSI will support organizations and programs that are consistent with the values of feminism, justice, equality, compassion, community and integrity.

The Foundation

Foundation for a Just Society International, Ltd. (FJSI) is a private foundation that initiated grantmaking in 2016.

The emphasis of grantmaking is on reaching underserved and underfunded populations, geographies and topics with services that improve the wellbeing of the most marginalized women, girls and LGBTQI people.  Grants primarily address the following topic areas:

  • Sexual and reproductive health for women and girls, particularly delivery of services

  • Upstream prevention of trafficking and other poor outcomes for girls, with a focus on education for girls and communities

  • Enhancing opportunity and well-being for women and girls with special needs

  • Support for LGBTQI people

FJSI’s primary geographic focus is Francophone West Africa, but some grants are also made to global entities and for regional convening. There is also a small grants program in Bermuda.

FJSI shares values and priorities with its sister foundation, Foundation for a Just Society, but has a complementary approach to grantmaking.  FJSI grants are made exclusively to non-U.S.-based organizations.

FJSI does not accept unsolicited proposals or inquiries.
